Shin Seung-Uoo

Kim Sung-Su
Abstract
Objectives: The aim of this study was to provide appropriate outcome measures to various conditions in knee joint by comparison among many different knee-rating systems.

Methods: I referred to Internet libraries, which provided full texts and abstracts of articles, and references to study outcome measures in knee joint

Results and Conclusions: Composition of outcome measures in knee joint can be outlined into 4 levels - functional level, recording symptom and impairment, physical examination and ancillary test. Lysholm knee scoring scale, Tegner activity score, Noyes scale and Cincinnatii scale are adequate for ligament injury in knee. The available outcome measures for use in osteoarthritis are Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC), Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score(KOOS) and Lequesne¡¯s index. International Knee Documentation Committee form(IKDC form) may become a publication requirement for journals in view of the international standing of the committee. For long term follow-up study Medical Outcomes Study Short Form-36(SF-36) should be included.
